Sara Saxton is a British-American photographer, originally from Minnesota and now based in the mountains of Montana. She comes from a long line of makers, teachers, engineers, and entrepreneurs-people who build things with care and curiosity.
From a young age, creativity was her sanctuary. She spent her days coloring, painting, listening to music, and taking photos-getting messy, making mistakes, and learning through play. It was never about being perfect—it was about exploring the world through feeling and color.
Saxton Studios began in 2018 as a side project, photographing friends and building something small, but heartfelt. While studying at Montana State University's School of Film & Photography, Sara deepened her creative foundation. At the same time, she managed a local shop, where she discovered a passion for helping small businesses bring their stories to life through imagery.
In 2022, she made the leap into full-time photography, offering portraits and brand visuals for thoughtful, creative people and small Montana businesses. Today, her work continues to reflect the heart of that early creative spark-honest, expressive, and made to last.
Music is woven into her creative process—a quiet constant in her schoolhouse studio. For Sara, sound and image are cut from the same cloth-each a way to remember, to feel, to return.

Nobody's quite sure how Birdie ended up at the Stafford Animal Shelter-but Sara knew right away they were meant to be a pair. With her scruffy whiskers and steady presence, Birdie has become a trusted sidekick on photo shoots, greeting clients like old friends and occasionally hopping into the frame when it feels right.
She moves through the day with quiet intuition and a touch of mischief, always tuned into the moment (and, somehow, the radio).
She doesn't ask for much-just a bit of sun, some river time, and to be near her people.
